ITF is the world's oldest tree planting charity. We have more than a century’s experience doing it properly. Our teams monitor, maintain and protect our trees for years, tracking survival using field data and GIS technology. That's why we get lasting results – at our recent project in Uganda’s Mount Elgon National Park, independently run assessments recorded a tree survival rate of 92%.
A dead tree captures no carbon, provides no food and sustains no community. So, the question that matters for your investment is not how many trees go into the ground on day one, it’s how many are still standing by year five.

Kenya | Kaboywo Forest
Internationally recognised as one of the most important wildlife habitats in East Africa, the return of native tree species here is creating habitats for birds, insects and other animals that depend on a diverse, functioning forest ecosystem.
So far, 24,800 trees have been planted here.
Uganda | Kasese District
On the steep hillsides of Kasese District, tree roots are doing vital work: stabilising slopes, reducing the risk of landslides and helping farming families adapt to a changing climate.
So far, 12,250 trees have been planted here.
Tanzania | Lushoto District
Near the Usambara Mountains, our local partner the Changamoto Youth Development Organisation have been planting native trees at schools, health centres and places of worship – embedding trees into the heart of community life.
So far, 35,128 trees have been planted here and the community nursery restocked with 50,000 seedlings.
United Kingdom | Harvard Hill
This project is all about creating nature-friendly community spaces in West London. The trees planted here at Harvard Hill bring people together from all walks of life to celebrate and enhance their shared space.
So far, 300 trees have been planted here.

Many tree planting schemes are investor-backed businesses, they take a margin and pass the planting to organisations like us. ITF is different. We're a registered charity: so no shareholders, no profit margin, no investment return extracted from your donation. That means every pound is invested directly into our work - proper species selection, trees in the ground and long-term monitoring taken on by experts. We've been doing this since 1922, not because the ESG sector made it profitable, but because we've always believed that trees can transform landscapes and lives.

Yes. We’ll share photos, stories and reports from the projects you support, giving you credible content to communicate your impact to employees, customers and other stakeholders.
To keep our tree planting cost-effective and maximise the funding going directly to restoration, we don’t photograph individual trees within a Company Forest. If individual tree photography or more tailored reporting is important to your business, talk to our team about a Bespoke Company Forest.
