A workshop for Oxfordshire community groups looking to plant a community orchard
Led by fruit tree specialist Andy Howard, this is a free interactive workshop with a visit to a local orchard.
Topics covered will include:
Types of fruit tree including heritage varieties
How to design an orchard (aspect, soil conditions, frost, watering, spacing and layout)
Ordering fruit trees
How to manage a community planting day

Tea and coffee provided, but please bring your own lunch.
The community orchard is a 5 minute walk from the village hall.

Meet your trainer
Andy Howard of The Heritage Fruit Tree Company is an "Orchard Architect" and horticulturist who designs, restores and maintains orchards, grafts trees, and runs training courses on pruning, grafting and budding.
Andy is passionate about promoting and reviving heritage fruit species and nurturing the skills needed to create and care for fruit trees. He is a founding member of the Midshires Orchard Group (covering Bucks, Northants, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire) and a member of the RHS Fruit Group and National Orchard Network.
