The trees that are combating the climate crisis

Natural disasters are intensifying, all around the world.

Deforestation has pushed our natural world to the brink. Landslides, droughts and floods are worsening. Countless species are threatened with extinction. And the health, safety and livelihoods of millions of people are at risk.

It’s not too late. But we need to act now. We can harness the power of trees to protect our future.

Trees are diverse and remarkable. A mangrove can help defend against storms and hurricanes. Its long roots can check extreme wind and waves, keeping life on shore safe.

Ficus thonningii absorbs heat in hot climates. Its large canopy creates much-needed shade and it cools the surrounding area.

Nitrogen is a key contributor to climate change. And the silky oak takes it from the air and turns it into a form that plants can use, helping crops like coffee to thrive.

Trees are incredible. They clean our air, prevent soil erosion and give us shelter and shade. They can be the first line of defence in extreme weather. And of course, they capture carbon, helping to mitigate the climate crisis.

By planting more trees in places where they make the fastest impact, we can safeguard our planet for generations to come.

As our Kenya Project Officer, Joshua Mutambuki says, “In the symphony of sustainability, each tree planted is a note of hope.”

Will you be part of the symphony and donate to plant trees? This Earth Day we are raising £20,000 to plant trees that create security, fight climate change and transform lives for the better.

Donate today

Please donate £30 and help plant 10 life-giving trees that create shelter and security. And for one week only, your gift will be doubled thanks to the Big Give!
