In rural Kenya, where up to 90% of people depend on wood for cooking, we’re rolling out eco-stoves that are changing the game.
The old stoves devoured firewood and belched out smoke. Eco-stoves are cleaner and use 70% less wood. For women like Caroline – who tend to be responsible for gathering firewood – this eases the physical strain and frees up more time for work.
“I now cook faster,” says Caroline. “I can have time to go work as a scout and make money.
“I am now a happy empowered woman.”
