Fun-filled family days at Woodpecker Farm

Earlier this year, we launched ‘Healing in the Outdoors’. A collaborative project with Refugee Resource that’s creating opportunities for refugees and asylum seekers in Oxfordshire to experience the healing power of nature and build community.

Over the summer, two unforgettable family days unfolded at the enchanting Woodpecker Farm in Oxfordshire. With its rich biodiversity and mature woodlands, the farm served as the ideal setting for these joyful gatherings.

Families and individuals were invited to take part in an array of engaging workshops, ranging from the timeless crafts of willow weaving and wood carving to forest school adventures and bushcraft skills.

The outdoor cultural cooking sessions allowed participants to connect with their heritage through food, while folk singing and dancing brought everyone together in perfect harmony.

For those who joined us at Woodpecker Farm, it was a chance to relax and experience the healing power of nature. It also fostered a sense of belonging by bringing people who share similar experiences together. And opened up opportunities for further engagement within the wider community.

Beyond the immediate sense of community, these days at Woodpecker Farm were delightful and fun-filled and they left a lasting impact on all who participated. It was a reminder that nature can help bring people together and promote wellbeing.
