CHASEWATER COUNTRY PARK

IN THE FOREST OF MERCIA

The Forest of Mercia is a Community Forest which includes a large part of Walsall. It is being created by a partnership between Government, Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council and, most importantly, YOU – the local community. Community Forests are large areas on the edges of towns and cities which are being planted with trees. By planting a patchwork of woodlands and hedgerows, encouraging wildlife and improving public rights of way, the Forest of Mercia will provide opportunities for work, recreation and education.

The planting site is in Chasewater Country Park close to the Visitor Centre and a new area will be created further into the Park. Your donation to the Family Tree Scheme will help to create an important part of the Forest of Mercia. The trees planted will be in groups of four per dedication, with the long term objective that they will be thinned with one of the four reaching maturity.

The Dedication Book is at the Visitor Centre, on the front desk.

Directions:

Chasewater Country Park is in Brownhills, just north of the A5. Getting to the A5 from:

M6 south – exit J12 - A5 to Cannock, then toward Lichfield.

M6 north – exit J11 - A460 to Cannock. At Longford island turn right - A5 to Lichfield.

M42 – exit J10 - A5 toward Cannock.

M1 – Exit J23A - A42/M42, then exit J10 onto A5 toward Cannock.

Once you are on the A5, follow the ‘brown signs’ to Chasewater.

Access to Pool Road is along a slip road off the Lichfield bound carriageway of the A5 after the ‘Crown’/’Rising Sun’ island. Look out for a miniature wooden pit wheel with blue sign board at the head of the road.
