Croome Landscape Park

Croome D'Abitot, Worcestershire

Site Description

Croome Landscape Park is situated 8 miles south of Worcester and east of the A38 and M5 motorway (Grid Ref: 150:SO878448).

In 1996, The National Trust acquired 270 ha (667 acres) of this Grade 1 listed ‘Capability’ Brown landscape park.  Croome Park is one of the greatest creative works of art of the eighteenth century and is the result of a unique partnership between the 6th Earl of Coventry and the most famous of the landscape architects, ‘Capability’ Brown.

The park, with its lakes and river, is the setting for a design of great beauty which remains virtually intact.  The exquisite park buildings and other structures are mostly designed by Robert Adam and James Wyatt.

The National Trust has embarked upon a 10 year restoration plan to include the dredging of the water features, extensive park and woodland tree planting and the provision of facilities for visitors.

Although sections of the park will effectively be closed to the public during this restoration period, the public and other footpaths which run through the estate will be open daily all year round.
