Central Park, Plymouth

An area of green open space has been selected close to one of the main paths.  It is approximately 16,500 square metres in area, bordered by original hedgerows.  A range of mature trees already exists throughout the area, giving it an established, parkland setting and some of the old agricultural field patterns can still be seen in the current layout of the whole park.

Central Park is largely used for recreational activities. It has a number of sports pitches, a municipal sports centre and swimming pool.  However, the park retains a strong, natural character, especially over the sloping areas.  An area close to the Family Tree Scheme site has a significant number of mature trees and a wildflower meadow.
